The meeting was called to order. Father Eric opened the meeting with prayer, and introduced Austin Gilstrap, a new seminarian.
Minutes were reviewed and approved.
Old Business
There were no old business issues for discussion.
New Business
Eagle Scout Project - Kenny Janson and Kevin Bell discussed an Eagle Scout project of a lighted stone structure to be built at the entrance of the Prayer Path. Project to be completed by September.
Kenny Janson and the Grounds crew will grow hay again and already have buyers. The flag pole and landscaping are completed, and will have lighting soon.
Church Driveway Lighting Project - Gary Lamborn presented lining the church driveway with 22 Ballard lights which would be completed in several phases. Gary proposed that two lights be installed at the rectory drive for the first phase and was approved by consensus. Additional lights will be installed either as the parish can afford them, or parishioners and/or church groups may dedicate a light.
Job Seekers Support Group - Tim Lockwood talked about a new Job Seekers support group that he started that morning. The program consists of helping with resumes, passing job opportunities on to others, goal setting and general support.
OLOL Guidebooks - Charlie Woodward discussed the need to renew the contract with Guidebook Publishing Company. The Guidebooks are produced at no cost to the parish. There were 1,540 books recently mailed to parishioners. Consensus was to renew the 5-year contract.
40th Anniversary - ideas and projects include pictorial timeline of OLOL history in the hallway, framing and hanging stained glass map from the old church, “40 Acts of Caring,” picnics, retreats and
many other events that will continue through November 2010. The weekend of October 31/November 1, a “Power of 40” video will be shown at each Mass and a simple reception will follow.

Committee Reports
Stewardship – Committee is reading and discussing the Bishop’s Pastoral Letter on Stewardship. Ideas and teasers on Stewardship will run in the Sunday Bulletin.
Administration – turning lanes in the driveway are complete and traffic moves much quicker. The Finance Board has approved additional parking and will pave from the current parking lot to the Grounds shed. Currently obtaining bids for this project.
Building Study – architect has walked the grounds and was asked to quote a master plan. Group is visiting other churches and invited Holy Family to speak to them about their building expansion project currently underway.
Parish Life – discussed preliminary work on a new program, “Coming Home: Returning to the Faith” designed to provide support to fallen-away Catholics in their journey to return to the faith. Also discussed was a workshop geared towards job seekers, and retreats scheduled for 2010.
Welcoming – the newcomer dinner was canceled; will reschedule after the school season begins. Packets of OLOL information are being condensed and additional follow up calls are being made. Laminated OLOL bookmarks and pictorial directories are being distributed at the newcomer dinners.
Hispanic Ministry – Henry Ayala from St. John Vianney Parish thanked Fr. Eric and the Parish Council for the support of the Hispanic Ministry. There are 250 people who attend the Spanish Mass. Early signups for Religious Education are up to 30 people. There were 16 children who attended the Hispanic Vacation Bible School. The Hispanic ministry was asked to continue to be represented on the Parish Council.
Social Action – Disability Inclusion Mass will be held October 25 at the 11:00 Mass. Extra handicap spots will be designated. The Haiti school collection drive netted $17,000.
Communications – Newsletter deadline is August 20 for the September newsletter. Sister Maria will be the focus for the August newsletter.

Youth/Education
The high school mission trip was a great success. There were 21 missionaries.
CCD – Cyndi Sabatino is interviewing for the Assistant DRE position.
Why Catholic registration begins September 13; program begins first part of October.
Pastor Comments
Father Eric commented on his satisfaction of the many good things happing at OLOL, and has found it to be an extremely active and committed parish.
